Since we have been eating better our taste buds have really noticed!
We bought bread at the store when we went shopping, like normal, and occasionally make homemade with our bread machine. Anywho, I suggested to Logan to make a sandwich. He said there wasn't any bread left. Uh, yeah there was! I just bought some when I went shopping. He gave me this look and said he wasn't going to eat that bread. So now we have to make homemade bread all the time! Not complaining......I think it is a very good thing! At least we know what is in the bread we make at home and it doesn't have ingredients in it that we can't pronounce. Here is a honey oatmeal bread. Once it is cooled I slice it thin. The smell in the house is wonderful when we make a loaf......which is now often.
Honey Oatmeal Bread
1 1/4 cups water, 70-80 degrees
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup honey
2 tbsp veggie oil
1 cup quick-cooking oats
3 cups plus 2 tbsp flour (we used unbleached)
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
Place in bread pan in order listed. Make sure you put a dent in the top of the flour to hold the yeast. We selected the basic setting and a light crust.
I store it in a large zip lock bag.
This is the second loaf out of 4 we have made so far (and counting).
