Silly Kitty

Our cat, Trinity, is sleeping with her nose just touching the side of the couch.
Our pets are such a joy to have.

On another note: I was hired yesterday at a retirement community for CNA. I already work for an agency two days a week caring for a client in her home. I explained to this place I applied at, during the interview, that I didn't want to give up my client. They said they totally understand and will work my schedule around that!! How awesome!! So I now have two jobs. (I say that like it's a big deal. They are both part time. My first one is only 10 hours a week.) I start today at my new one. Hopefully everything goes well.

Octoberfest!

A few days ago was David's birthday and we went out to dinner. But one other thing we do for his birthday is we go to the Octoberfest the weekend after his birthday. We ate more food than I took pictures of (haha). And drink even more! We sang, danced, talked and laughed! We had a very awesome night!!

We got there earlier than previous years. But that was okay....we got to see it in the light (haha).

Our designated driver and her friend. Love you!

Lights are all hung in the trees.

David's beer boot. He got this a few years ago at the Octoberfest.

Then we move into the tent as the night gets later. There are a lot of people in the tent enjoying the live band.

David and I took a picture of each other.

 David taking pictures.

David taking more pictures but not so clear anymore.

I took a few pictures also.

This is Nori's little guy. His name is Gunthur.

David taking a final picture before we ending the night.

Good times!!

My easy, yummy lunch

I made lunch for myself today and really enjoyed it. I was given a can of beans from a friend. She gave them to me to try because they are her favorite beans and not sold here (she moved here a year ago). So today I tried them. They are called Roman Beans. There was a recipe on the side of the can on how to prepare them and serve with rice. I didn't have everything it called for. I just used what I had and even left out what I didn't want. Because of this I didn't measure anything I used. I know what I like and how much I like of it! Here is what I did with them.

I sprayed a pot with some cooking spray and sauteed some diced peppers and onions. Then added a little of my V8 veggie juice, some dried garlic and oregano. Last I add the can of beans, undrained. I also added some curry because I like curry. While that was heating I made some rice. Then had lunch!

The beans are very large and hearty! It was really good. I only put a ladle over my rice so there was still plenty left over. David tried it when he got home and he likes them too.

Happy Birthday David!

The other day was another birthday...........David's!!
I wanted to treat him to a dinner out and he picked a German restaurant. It is pretty far from us but we don't care, the food is yummy, beer too! We had a really good time and spent hours there enjoying the evening!

Happy Birthday Baby!! I love you!!

The beer on the left is a regular German beer and it was mine.
The other beer is a very dark German beer and that is what everyone else was drinking.

My favorite dessert is German. They don't use tons of sugar and the desserts aren't over powering sweet. Just right for me!! I don't like sweet, sweet.

Puba (David's Dad) says this should also say Good Beer.

Pumpernickel Bread

We made pumpernickel this time. One of our favorite bread is........well, is all specialty bread!! (haha). I would not do good in Germany or France or Italy.....you know, all the places where they make wonderful specialty bread all the time! Anywho, this pumpernickel has an ingredient that was optional. We didn't have it on hand (because I didn't know we were out). So it worked out nice that it just so happen to be an optional ingredient! We finally bought it and would like to try another bread using the ingredient.

Pumpernickel

4 oz. milk
5-7 oz. water
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp molasses
1 1/2 tbsp butter or margarine
2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup rye flour
1 tsp onion powder
1 tbsp  cocoa, optional
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast

Place in bread pan in order of your bread machines instructions. Select basic setting or whole wheat setting. We use basic, it is a shorter cooking time. Select crust. We always use light. When done enjoy!

Deli Rye Bread

Here is the Deli Rye bread we made. It was very good!! There were three types of rye bread to choose from and this is the one we decided on. We will eventually try the other two and will post it when we do. Finding the rye flour......well, we had a nice little bulk food store in town years ago but they closed down and there went a wonderful place we bought many things from. Wondering where we would find rye flour now wasn't looking good. Then I couldn't believe it when we found the rye flour at Publix! Yeah, Publix! Where shopping is a pleasure! Okay, here is the Deli Rye.

Remember all ingredients at room unless otherwise noted.

8 oz. buttermilk
1-2 oz. water
1 1/4 tsp salt
1 large egg
1 tbsp veggie oil
2 tbsp molasses
2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 cups rye flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 tsp active dry yeast

Place in bread pan in order of your bread machine instructions. Ours goes in order of all liquid, salt, seasoning, flours and last in a dip in the flour goes the yeast. Select the basic setting or the whole wheat setting. We did the basic setting. Then select the crust you like. Our machine has a beautiful light crust setting so we only use that one.
Enjoy! We sure did!

Next bread will be pumpernickel.

Last squash

We finally ate our last of the 4 squash we bought. We didn't like this one. The best one we had out of the four was the first one. We will buy that one often while it is in season! Try for your self when it comes to new fresh foods. You might find something you didn't know you liked and learn what you don't like. Happy hunting for fresh, healthy living!!

Zombicon 2012

We decided to go to Zombicon this year. It was going on during the whole weekend but we only went on Saturday. Nori went last year when Guinness was there counting for a record. It was fun, something to do. David says we might go next year. So here was the day of Zombicon......

We worked on the outfits by cutting and burning them. Nori made homemade blood for my outfit. David, Logan and Sam used paint.....duh! Oh well. Then Nori spread dark lipstick on for a dirty look. It was fun!

Then we went with Nori and Sam to an afternoon bonfire. We haven't had one since we had to move from our 1 1/4 acres. It was nice. Logan got to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Then we had to go back home and get ready for Zombicon!

O:kay. Back home and getting ready.
Nori did the makeup for everyone. Because she is good at it!
Awesome job baby!

A family photo before we leave!

Now ZOMBICON!!

Some extra pictures of Nori and Sam.
