This documentary is a MUST see for anyone and everyone who cares where the food they put in their body comes from. As a whole we can change it all! And we should!

Food, Food and more Food!

Here are some of the things we have been eating.

One of the four squash we bought on a shopping trip. So far we liked 2 out of the three we have eaten. There is one left which will probably be eaten tonight.
This one was also good.

My breakfast. I love eggs with green beans! So I take left over green beans and heat them in a skillet. Then add my egg and cook until the egg is done. Yum, yum, yum! Added a slice of homemade rye bread toasted with a little spray butter.

Veggies! I am always looking for ways to have veggies without them being the same ol' boring ones over and over and without them being mixed with things to make them not so boring to not so healthy. A friend made this mix and I thought it was so good. I will be making this often! Thank you!
This veggie is a mixture of pretty much your choice of veggies, but here is what is in this mixture: bag of mixed greens (like collard, kale, turnip), parsnips, carrots, celery, garlic, onion, pink beans, can diced tomatoes, chicken broth. I can't wait to make my first mess of this. I already know what veggies I am going to use and so far in my head it sounds yummy!

P.S. You may be thinking, "I see potatoes." Sorry those are not potatoes you see, they are parsnips.

Happy Birthday Dad!

It was my Dad's birthday Tuesday. Boy am I slow at this posting stuff. I made dinner and dessert for everyone who came over. I was busy visiting that I forgot to get pictures of the event. I did get pictures of the dessert when we were ready to eat it though. Go figure. Oh well. I enjoyed the evening and the food was very good! I made fresh green beans, mashed potatoes from these wonderfully yummy potato mix we found at Publix, a homemade apple pie and homemade carrot cake (made these into little cakes), and when David got home from work he grill the chicken that had been marinating in a garlic and lemon sauce.

Pumpkin carving

Sunday David and Logan carved our pumpkin. David helped but Logan did most of the work! Good job buddy! I think it turned out awesome!! It probably won't last until Halloween but oh well. We are going to enjoy it until it is no more.

Her is the start. They went with a traditional pumpkin which we all liked.

Then cleaning out the inside.

Logan took a picture of himself with the pumpkin and of the seeds David was preparing to roast for eating!

Logan caving away.

Got the eyes done then did the nose and starting on the mouth.

Done carving. Awesome!!

Then when it got dark we put a candle in it. One picture is with the porch light off and the other is with the porch light on. I like that picture better because it shows some of the outline of the pumpkin. I think it looks cool.

Date Night!

We didn't have the kids Saturday so we had date night!
We went to an island type restaurant called Bahama Breeze (because I had a $10 off coupon). It was really nice and the food was really yummy. We had been there about 10 years ago but I couldn't remember if I liked the place. David said he remembered what he thought and he didn't like it. This time was different. It was good.

This drink was very yummy. It was their version of a Pina Colada. Then this was the appetizer, tomatoes, cheese and fresh basil on cuban bread.

Some of the decorations.

I had a mild jerk chicken with a pineapple chutney, mashed sweet potatoes and green beans. David had a chicken curry rice bowl with some kind of flat bread. How do you like that I got his shirt in the picture! ha!
Everything was so good!

Flavorful Herb Bread

I found this recipe years ago and love it still today.
The smell of bread cooking is amazing!

Flavorful Herb Bread

1 cup warm milk (70-80 degrees)
1 egg
2 tbsp butter/margarine, soft
1/4 cup dried minced onion
2 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp parsley
1 tsp oregano
3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp active dry yeast

Place all ingredients in order of your bread machines instructions. Basic setting.
We always select light curst. Select what you like for the crust.
All ingredients should be at room temperature expect where indicated otherwise.

Our bread machines order of ingredients is: liquids first; salt, sugar and spices second; flour next, make an indent in top of flour; put yeast in last in the indent in the flour.

Gold Nugget Squash

We tried another winter squash. David didn't like this one as much as the first one. He didn't even finish eating it. I didn't think it was all that bad. Oh well, to each his own. It's good to try new foods.
