Homemade Bread in an Air Fryer!

That's right!! I used my air fryer to make bread and it turned out wonderful! No need to heat the whole oven up for one loaf of bread anymore. Yay! Unless it's winter and you want the warmth...hehehehe. But I live down here in Florida were there aren't many cold days.

Homemade bread is easy to make and makes your house smell divine!! Plus it tastes heavenly too! So put on your apron and roll up your sleeves cause you're making bread today! Now let's just get right into it.

Aaaand you can see my lovely slippers - so you can keep yours on too ;-)

To begin - get everything you need: active dry yeast, honey (or you can use another sweetener you prefer or have on hand like agave and pure maple syrup), salt, unbleached flour, whole wheat flour (you don't need this if you don't have it), water or plant-milk, measuring spoons and cups, whatever you use to mix with (bowl and whisk/spoon or stand mixer), baking loaf, parchment paper and last but not least.....your AIR FRYIER!! (or oven if you don't yet have an air fryer or don't want one).

**Please note: make sure your loaf pan fits into your air fryer before doing this recipe because if it doesn't fit you will need time to pre-heat your oven.

Place the flours in a bowl with the salt and whisk to combine. Set aside.

Measure out your other ingredients. Warm up the water or plant-milk. They say it should be about 110°F but I don't have a thermometer and I'm not going to buy one just for making bread. So I stick my finger in the liquid and test it that way. If it's too hot on your finger it will be too hot for the yeast. If it's too cool like lukewarm it won't be warm enough for the yeast. I use the microwave and take it slow to get the temperature I'm looking for. I always use water to make my bread but today I decided to try it using plant-milk. I will say I didn't notice a difference. Therefore I will keep using water.

I should also note in here that I warm up the mixing bowl. I run the faucet as hot as it will get, place the mixing bowl under the hot water and let it get warm. I usually do this on the inside so I don't have to dry it.

Once the bowl and liquid is warm place the liquid in the bowl. Stir in the honey. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it rest for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes the yeast will be foamy and ready for you to add the flour/salt mixture. I turn on the mixer and stir the water/yeast while I begin to add the flour a little at a time. I don't take the mixer past speed 2. If using a bowl and spoon just start adding a little flour at a time and stir with each addition while incorporating the flour.

After you have added all the flour in, let the mixer knead the dough for 8 minutes. You will notice dough on the sides of the bowl. Don't bother trying to scrape it down. It will come clean on its own as it kneads. Just keep the mixer on, add the flour and set a timer for 8 minutes. While that is doing its thing, clean the kitchen. If you cleaned already then sit down, relax and have a hot tea. Me, I'll be cleaning the kitchen....hehehehe.

When the time is up remove the hook and bowl from the mixer. Remove the dough from the hook and form the dough into a ball. Place the dough ball back in the bowl, cover with a 100% cotton cloth or flour sack. I have a few of these clothes I found at the store. I use them only for making my bread. I also place the covered bowl in the oven - NOT ON! Just to sit out of the possibility of any breezes. And in a warmer place then on the counter. I also turn my oven light on while the dough is mixing in the mixer to let it get warm from the light. Let the covered dough rise for 1 hour.

Line the loaf pan with parchment paper. After the 1 hour, punch the dough down. Remove it from the bowl and knead it a few minutes. Shape into a loaf the size of your loaf pan. Place in the loaf pan, cover with the cloth and let rise for about 30 minutes.

Now that it is ready you can put the loaf into your air fryer. I don't pre-heat my air fryer as there really is no need that I have found to do so. If you do feel better pre-heating yours just add about 2-3 minutes onto your bake time and watch it. After 2-3 minutes have passed put your bread in.

**If you are using your oven remember to pre-heat it while the dough is rising.

Bake at 375°F for 20-30 minutes. Remove from oven and also remove from loaf pan. Set on a wire cooling rack and let cool. Once it is completely cooled you can slice it and store in a zip-loc bag. This will not last for weeks because it is fresh and has no preservatives. So eat it!! And enjoy!! Or you can not make a pig of yourself and eat the whole loaf by just putting it in the freezer if you know you won't eat it in a few days. But hey, we make pigs of ourselves when I make bread and it's eaten within 1 to 2 days. Not sorry either!

There you have it.......homemade bread!! Easy huh? I told ya. Nothing like it, right?!

Did you also notice that this recipe didn't use oil of any kind!? That's right. You don't need that nasty stuff to make bread. Or anything for that matter! Awesome, I know! You're welcome ;-)
