We went shopping over the weekend and I get these chicken tenderloins. They come 4-6 tenderloins in each individual package (Perdue). And I take them out of the packages, put them in a freezer bag, add marinade freezer. I got 7 freezer bags of flavored chicken. One bag is one meal portion size for the 4 of us. After making these I remembered to take pictures!
This is the chicken left over after making what is in the picture above.
So with all this left over I made 4 freezer bags of shredded chicken and a pot of chicken broth. I boiled in batches with seasoning then let cool. Placed the cooked chicken in the food processor and.....wait for it....processed it! Then placed in freezer bags.
Then I took this seasoned chicken broth and added celery and sweet peppers (first processed in the food processor). Cooked on low for a long time. Let cool and will process it in the food processor to make it smoother. Yes, I love our food processor! Been happy with it since the first day I bought it.
I got 7 cups of creamy, smooth chicken broth. 2 cups of broth per freezer bag and 1 cup left over for me to make a soup for my lunch today!
And the best part.......
together the two packages of Perdue chicken tenderloins we bought cost $18.13!!
We got 11 meals out of it so that comes to $1.65 a meal! Plus 7 cups of free broth!
That's pretty sweet.
