2019 Carnival Breeze Cruise

Well it's been another year of cruising. We plan ahead and take a cruise once a year. And of course we try to make sure it's going somewhere we haven't been yet. As we go thru the song by the Beach Boys - Kokomo - we finally can mark Bermuda off the list!! But not permanently.

This year was different than all our other cruises. This year we went thru a hurricane. Hurricane Humberto. The ride was rough and bumpy. It was the worst we've been on. And after speaking to others that have a lot more cruises under their belt they also said it was the worst waters they've been on. People who never get sea sick were getting sea sick and taking dramamine. I was taking it also on the first night thru the hurricane. But with all that it was still an awesome cruise! We had so much fun. This was our first time on the Carnival line. They call themselves the fun ship and that they are. On other ship lines we have gotten board! The Carnival always has something going on! And the people were so friendly and talkative. It was such a different experience. We will be taking another Carnival ship vacation.

Anywho, on with the fun! This was a 7 day cruise going to Bermuda and Grand Turks. Yep, only 2 islands and it took 7 days! Of course we did an overnight stay at Bermuda but it totaled 24 hours, arriving at 4pm Monday and leaving at 4pm Tuesday.

This was our first time leaving from Port Canaveral in Florida. Which is only 45 minutes from our home. I don't think this port is as nice as Miami but it is close to home. I also like that Carnival is the only cruise line that goes to Bermuda from Florida. All the other ones leave from New York. Which doesn't make since to me as Bermuda is closer to Florida. It's way out in the Atlantic across from South Carolina. So that is closer than leaving from New York. I really don't know why others don't go there from Florida but they should.

This time we splurged and got an aft balcony. This is a rear facing room with a balcony. All I can say is WOW! We heard that it wouldn't be a good choice but we wanted to try it anyway and decide for ourself. I am so glad we did! It was the best room we have ever had. Not just the fact that the room was bigger and the balcony was bigger. But because it was the best sleep I've ever gotten...hahaha. The only thing you feel in the back of the ship is the swaying back and forth. Like laying in a hammock. Put me to sleep so much that one day I slept thill 3pm. So I can say it is not a good choice if you don't want to sleep all the damn time! hahaha. I do know I will not ever do the front of the ship. That is the part that goes up and down from large waves hitting against it. No thanks.

The ship was really nice. I think this would be a good cruise line for my grand babies for sure!! Looked like so much fun could be had for the little ones and teens alike. Tho we didn't see many kids on this ship as we thought we would compared to the other ships we've been on. Unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy all the fun amenities they had on the top decks. Because of the hurricane they would close down and rope off areas outside due to the winds being very strong and due to rain when we had it. But that's okay. There were other things to enjoy and sleep.....let's not forget sleep - swaying back and forth with the sound of the water out back. Oh sorry, back to the ship.......

And while the kids of all ages enjoy this fun park area there was an adult only area if you wanted to get away from it all. The adult only area was just a place to go and relax from kids and play time. We wanted to enjoy this area of the ship more but like I said, they closed things down during crazy strong wind and if is was open the cushions were wet from the rain. Oh well, that's why we had a balcony!

As for food, we didn't take pictures. This ship was more "American-ized" than all the other ships we've been on. They focused on hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, sandwiches, tacos and burritos. Nothing fancy of other country cuisine, something we very much enjoy. As we can have our American food anytime we want. We love trying dishes from other countries. So we didn't bother taking pictures of the food. But if you are vegan you can eat on this ship. They have veggie burgers, fries, baked potatoes, falafel wraps, salad, fruit, oatmeal, grits, fried potatoes, sautéed veggies, veggie burritos, veggie tacos, bagels with peanut butter and jelly. Also, the dining room was amazing with our vegan diet. They made us tofu scramble, blueberry pancakes, breakfast potatoes, they made tofu steak with sautéed veggies, rice and lentil curry dish, rice pudding, pasta with marinara sauce filled with veggies.....It wasn't bad.

Bermuda! Wow, Bermuda! I can say that I would love to visit Bermuda again but not by ship (but lets understand I wouldn't give up an opportunity to go there again even if it was by ship). I would like to fly over and spend a week in Bermuda to take in all the island and that beach!! Oh that beach! I know my pictures don't give anything justice because 1. I'm not a professional photographer and 2. my phone camera sucks! That should be number 1! Out of all my phone cameras I must say this one is the worst. But hey, go visit it for yourself to see the personal beauty of this island! We spent most our time in the water snorkeling. So I didn't have many pictures and the most I do have was thru the bus window going to and from the beach. Those aren't true to color as they were thru a tinted window. The last 4 pictures are thru the window. It is what it is.

Now we're off the Grand Turk. A place I've been wanting to see for over 10 years! I was so excited about this cruise!! When we arrived and walked around it dawned on us that we forgot to drink an island beer in Bermuda....damn!! We were so busy in aw of the ocean they have we totally forgot. So now we have to go back...hahaha. But in Grand Turk we got our island beer. Again, we spent most of our time snorkeling and didn't get many pictures of the island. And in the picture with the island beer, our ship is on the left. The other ship was a Carnival as well.

So there you have it. Another cruise and new islands to mark off the list!! Now time to plan our next one. We have already figured that in a few years we will have to start flying to other destinations to take cruises cause we're almost done with what we can do from Florida ports. But it's not like we can't repeat some of the island in the Caribbean. How else will I get my vanilla extract....hahahaha.

Well, here is where is comes to an end. I think this post is super longer than others, sorry. I'm not big on reading a lot of stuff and here I am typing a lot of words. Of course you can just skip over the words and just look at the pictures. Either way, enjoy!

My hostage of towel animals.....hehehehe.
