Veggetti

If we eat pasta it's very rare. I don't buy it anymore. I think I still have some in my pantry but I can't remember how long it's been in there now. I was using it to ween the boys off pasta...lol. When I make a pasta dish, like spaghetti, I use spaghetti squash. I'll have to make a post of the "pasta" dishes I make. Instead of using spaghetti squash every time I want to use a long "noodle" I bought this Veggetti thing. I really like it! I can make zucchini "pasta" and summer (yellow) squash "pasta".

This spiral tool has two size "noodles" - thin and thick. You can peel the veggie you are using or not peel it. You put the veggie in the side you want and turn. The "noodles" come out of the side and the core/center/seeds come out of the other side. I thinks it works pretty easy. You can spiral squash, carrots, cucumbers and potatoes. I have done the squash and carrots. The carrots were very hard because they are smaller in diameter. Here is the zucchini I made for spaghetti one night.

This was two zucchini!

If you peel, like I did, you can put the peel in your compost.
The two "butts" of the zucchini you can chop and use in soups.

The book does come with a cooking/boiling guide.

Then top with your sauce! Yum!!
I would of just mixed the sauce in the "noodle" like I normally make spaghetti. But I am weening the boys so I had to just top the sauce on. I made a mix of spaghetti noodles and zucchini noodle for them. Once we are all eating the new noodles I will just mix the sauce in and call it done. And one thing I really like is that I can eat more because it's a veggie and not a starchy pasta!
